Please add a layout for Table of Content, like for documentation website.

We will also implement a block layout similar to your idea. However, to build a table content effectively, I think a joomla plugin is needed to do that. I also searched on JED (Joomla! Extensions Directory) and also found some table content plugins that help you easily use in a specific article of yours.
Try searching for the keyword "Table Content" on JED to test the free extensions from the returned results.
