NTS KInfinite render problems

When a user selects preferences, the template renders incorrectly and shows an error ( prntscr.com/khmn46 )
With debug on, the error message is :

Rendering Error in layout Widget/Menu: Call to undefined function funcTagBuilder() in /home/swrotaryadmin/public_html/components/com_kunena/template/nts_kinfinite/layouts/widget/menu/default.php on line 121
Layout was rendered in /home/********/public_html/libraries/kunena/layout/base.php on line 166

This does not happen using the Joomla Forest kunena templates jf_simone (free template) but it does also happen using the Kunena crypsis templates.

Does anyone have any idea why this might be happening?

Edit: I notice a malformed call to a css file ( prntscr.com/kibcmh )
any clues as to why?
